How the drivetrain differs

Electric motors on one or both axles replace engine and gearbox; a large lithium-ion battery under the floor sets the car’s weight and low centre of gravity. Torque is instant from zero speed. The consequence for the rest of the car is more mass and more torque through tyres, bushes and brakes than a petrol car of similar size.

Brakes: used less, so they seize

Regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so pads and discs last far longer — but calipers that rarely work hard tend to stick, and discs corrode on their surfaces. Tesla itself publishes a caliper cleaning and lubrication procedure. We inspect caliper slides and pistons, clean and lubricate, and replace pads and discs on condition rather than mileage.

Suspension, steering and tyres

Weight and torque load suspension arms, ball joints and bushes; on Model S and X, control arms and the air suspension are recurring topics. Tyres wear faster and must carry the correct load rating. Alignment drifts after kerb impacts and shows quickly on the inner shoulders. We replace arms, bushes, dampers and steering components, and check geometry.

Climate, heat and the 12 V system

Cabin AC and battery cooling share one thermal system, and the AC compressor is high-voltage. In a Dubai summer that system works continuously, even when parked with cabin overheat protection on. We check AC performance, cabin filters, condenser condition and leaks; the high-voltage compressor and battery circuit stay with Tesla. The low-voltage battery (lead-acid on older cars, lithium-ion on newer ones) still powers doors, screens and computers — a weak one causes warnings and refusal to wake.

Body, paint and wheels

Tesla bodies mix aluminium and steel, and the paint is a frequent reason owners come to us: stone chips, panel repairs and colour matching. Wheels scuff easily on Dubai kerbs. We repaint panels and rims, apply PPF and ceramic coating, and repair interiors.
