Electric and plug-in hybrid BYDs — everything around the high-voltage system
BYD has quickly become one of the most visible new brands on UAE roads, with both fully electric models and plug-in hybrids. Like any electric car, a BYD still has brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, cabin climate, 12 V electrics and paint — and the hybrids also have a petrol engine that needs regular service. Those are the systems we work on.

Blade battery and platform
BYD builds its own Blade battery: long, flat lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells packed directly into the pack. LFP chemistry is more tolerant of heat and full charging than the nickel-based cells used by many other makers, at the cost of lower energy density. For owners in Dubai that thermal stability is an advantage. The battery stays with BYD; we work on everything around it.
DM-i plug-in hybrids
Models such as Song Plus, Seal 6, Seal 7 and Sealion 5 combine a battery and electric drive with an efficient petrol engine that mostly generates electricity or drives at cruising speed. Because the engine runs less and often starts cold, oil condition, coolant and the air filter still need service on schedule — even if the fuel bill is low. Engine servicing, cooling and filters are within our scope.
Brakes and suspension
Regenerative braking means pads last long but calipers and discs can stick and corrode from lack of use, as on any electric car. Battery weight loads suspension arms, bushes and tyres. We service calipers, replace pads and discs on condition, and repair suspension and steering.
Climate and electronics in the heat
Cabin AC and battery thermal management are linked, and the AC compressor is high-voltage; through a Dubai summer it works almost continuously. We check AC performance, cabin filters, condenser condition and leaks; the high-voltage compressor and battery cooling circuit stay with BYD. A weak 12 V battery causes warnings and start-up refusals and is a frequent, simple fix.
Body, paint and protection
New cars benefit most from protection early: PPF on the front end, ceramic coating, and wheel refinishing after kerb damage. We repair panels with colour matching and restore interiors.

Questions
Do you work on BYD batteries or motors?
No. The high-voltage system is outside our scope. We work on brakes, suspension, steering, wheels, 12 V electrics, paint and protection, and on the petrol engine of DM-i hybrids.
Does a BYD plug-in hybrid still need engine servicing?
Yes. The engine runs less and often cold, so oil, coolant and filters still need changing on schedule.
Is the Blade battery suited to Dubai heat?
Its LFP chemistry is among the more heat-tolerant lithium-ion types. Parking in shade and following BYD’s charging guidance still help.
Can you protect a new BYD?
Yes: PPF, ceramic coating and wheel protection, best done when the car is new.
