Land Rover Repair & Service in Dubai

Defender and Discovery — air suspension, drivetrain and desert wear

In the UAE, Land Rovers do real work: sand driving, high-speed highways and 48 °C car parks, often in the same week. That loads the air suspension, the cooling system and the four-wheel-drive hardware harder than a European service schedule assumes. We service to the schedule and inspect for how the car is actually used.

Air suspension in heat and sand

Discovery 3/4/5 and the new Defender (L663) use air springs, a compressor, a valve block and height sensors. Sand and heat crack the springs and wear the compressor piston seal. A leak makes the compressor run longer, it overheats and fails. Replacing only the compressor does not fix the cause. We leak-test, read height-sensor data and compressor run times.

Engines

The 2.0 Ingenium four-cylinder and 3.0 Ingenium straight-six mild hybrid use electric coolant pumps and complex thermal management. Coolant leaks at pumps and housings are the main age item. The supercharged 5.0 V8 (Defender V8) has the known water-pump and coolant-pipe weak points of that engine family.

Transfer box and differentials

Two-speed transfer boxes, active centre and rear locking differentials all depend on clean fluid and working actuators. Wading and sand driving contaminate seals and breathers. We check fluids and actuator function, and change fluids earlier after heavy off-road use.

Desert wear

After dune driving, sand packs into radiators, brake calipers, CV-joint boots and wheel bearings. A post-desert inspection catches torn boots and blocked radiators before they turn into failures. Tyre pressure cycles also stress the TPMS sensors.

Classic Defender

Pre-2016 Defenders have aluminium body panels on a steel chassis and simple, repairable mechanics (Td5, Puma, V8). In the UAE their chassis are usually in better condition than in Europe, which makes them good restoration candidates. We restore and recommission them.

[ WHAT WE CHECK ]

  • Coolant leaks on Ingenium and V8 engines
  • Transfer box and differential fluids and actuators
  • CV boots, wheel bearings and brakes after desert use
  • Radiator and condenser cleanliness
  • Battery and electrical standby drain

[ FAQ ]

Questions

My Defender shows “suspension fault” and sits low. What should be done?

Find the leak first. We leak-test each air spring, the lines and the valve block, and read sensor and compressor data. Replacing parts without finding the leak usually means the fault returns.

What should be checked after a desert trip?

Radiators and condenser for packed sand, CV boots, wheel bearings, brakes, underbody and tyre condition. Dry-ice cleaning removes sand from the underbody without water.

Should I change differential and transfer fluids more often?

After frequent sand driving or wading, yes — earlier than the standard schedule. We check fluid condition and advise.

Do you restore classic Defenders?

Yes: chassis, bodywork, paint, mechanics and recommissioning.

Are you a Land Rover dealer?

No. Bella Motor is an independent workshop, not affiliated with or authorised by Jaguar Land Rover.
