Ferrari-derived V8s, twin-turbo V6s and the Nettuno engine — diagnosed and repaired with Italian cars’ specific needs in mind
Maserati engines come from three families. The naturally aspirated 4.2 and 4.7 V8s of the GranTurismo and Quattroporte V were built by Ferrari. The 3.0 twin-turbo V6 and 3.8 twin-turbo V8 of the Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte VI also came from Ferrari. The Nettuno 3.0 V6, with pre-chamber combustion, powers the MC20, Grecale Trofeo and new GranTurismo. Each needs its own parts, procedures and attention points.

Gearboxes
Early Coupé, GranSport and Quattroporte V use the Cambiocorsa/DuoSelect single-clutch automated manual. Clutch wear and the hydraulic pump are the main items, and both can be read from the control unit. GranTurismo uses a ZF 6-speed automatic. Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte VI use the ZF 8-speed. MC20 uses an 8-speed dual-clutch. Fluid condition matters on all of them in Dubai heat.
V6 twin-turbo
On the 3.0 V6 we check for oil leaks at the cam covers and turbo lines, wastegate rattle and cam-phaser and timing noise on higher-mileage engines. A rattle at cold start or a cam-correlation fault code needs data, not guesses.
Skyhook and air suspension
Skyhook adaptive dampers (GranTurismo, Ghibli, Quattroporte) leak with age and log damper faults. Levante uses air springs with the same heat-related failure modes as other SUVs. We test each damper’s electrical circuit and inspect for leaks.
Interiors in heat
Soft-touch coatings on switches and panels in older cars degrade into a sticky surface. They can be stripped and refinished. Leather in light colours shows denim transfer early and is cleaned and protected.
Paint
Maserati tri-coat and metallic blues and reds need accurate colour matching. We use spray-out cards and blend into adjacent panels where needed, after measuring the existing paint thickness.

Questions
My Ghibli has a rattle at cold start. Is it the timing?
It can be the wastegate, a heat shield or the timing system. We use a stethoscope and timing data to separate them. Only the last one needs engine work.
Is the GranTurismo gearbox a clutch or an automatic?
GranTurismo uses a ZF 6-speed automatic (torque converter). The MC Shift versions and earlier coupés use a single-clutch automated manual with different needs.
Can sticky buttons be fixed?
Yes. The degraded coating is removed and the parts are refinished.
Do you use original parts?
We generally recommend original parts. Alternatives or performance parts can be fitted as well and are clearly listed on the invoice. We are happy to provide bespoke advice depending on the vehicle model, value, intended use and budget requirements.
